Labradorite: Natural Birthstone of February and March Labradorite is a variety of feldspar of beautiful blue, grey, green, or yellow color or a combination thereof. The most important property of this stone that it shows a physical phenomenon called labradorescence. The stone, usually gray-green, dark gray, black or grayish-white, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, pale green, or coppery red. Labradorite is a crystal that has been unearthed both in hot countries, but also colder and more temperate territories around the world. Aside from mining locations in the USA, Labradorite can also be found in countries like Mexico, Madagascar, Finland, Greenland, Italy, Russia, and Scandinavia. The Finnish variety is called Spectrolite, and is slightly different as it exhibits the full range of colors.
