Laguna Agate is one of the most sought-after agates in the world and highly praised for its intense banding, colors and chatoyancy. 

Colors that can be seen in these agates include but are not limited to red, pink, white, scarlet, lavender, and purple. Agates are a type of chalcedony that is translucent and banded, and this specific agate displays intense tight banding that makes it so unique. The sizes of this agate can range from a normal egg all the way up to the size of a melon. 

Laguna Agates were first discovered in the 1940s and the material is said to be around 38 million years old. They are mined only from ONE location in a remote mountainous area near Estacion Ojo Laguna, Chihuahua, Mexico which is about 170 miles south of El Paso, Texas.

Since the 1940s, Chihuahua, Mexico has produced some of the world's best agates and they are now recognized and pursued by collectors from all over.
